Port Bruce Beachgrass Planting

October 27, 2025

Port Bruce community volunteers gathered to plant Switchgrass, Little Blue Stem and Cottonwoods at the Port Bruce municipal beach.  This beach is already well vegetated and healthy, so adding defined access paths with protective fencing was an important aspect of the Port Bruce project.  Additional vegetation was planted by volunteers to improve species diversity and fill in bare ground not associated with pathways.  The Port Bruce municipal beach is a valuable part of the community, and the new paths welcome visitors while protecting the ecological and physical benefits the native vegetation provides.
