Community volunteers and staff from the Long Point Biosphere Region and Zuzek Inc. planted native vegetation including Beachgrass, Little Blue Stem, Switchgrass and Cottonwood trees to encourage dune formation on both municipal and private properties. Healthy dunes create a barrier against natural coastal hazards, such as flooding and erosion. Dunes are a nature-based solution that build beach resilience and improve habitat and biodiversity outcomes
