Beachgrass plants and seeds were collected from a healthy, dense population of grass located in the Long Point National Wildlife Area. Beachgrass native to the Great Lakes region is better suited to building dunes in the North Shore Resilience Project area, and provides improved biodiversity outcomes when compared to non-native grasses. This beachgrass was collected under a permit from Canada Wildlife Service and transplanted the following day in dune restoration sites on private and municipal land. We are grateful for the support provided by youth volunteers and project partners at the Canada Wildlife Service and the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
